Our Actions Affect Everyone
Drivers have a great responsibility to protect and preserve life. December 2017 and January 2018 have already produced several fatal and near fatal accidents. Whether they were drug related, lack of attention, or lack of concern, I am confident that the majority of them could have been avoided if everyone involved were attentive, sober, and courteous.
The time has come that our emergency services should start to focus on preventing the accident rather than cleaning them up. It's far less taxing on the community, and absolutely far less tragic.
This will not be an easy task to accomplish and will have a sizable upfront cost to the city.
Alleviating the problems now will provide for a far less strain on budgetary needs in the future.
